WORK-BASED LEARNING
Pathway to Work - Health & Wellbeing Advance Care (Level 4)
Pathway to Work is ideal for people wanting to work in the Healthcare sector
It provides learners with the opportunity to gain initial knowledge and skills during module one. Upon successful completion of module one, NZSE will support the learner to find employment in the health and wellbeing sector and ensure the learner can complete the remaining four modules as part of their continued work-based learning.
Pathway to Work learners complete the first module with NZSE (within a three-month period), before continuing into employment to complete the remaining four modules.
This programme supports a transition from provider based to work-based learning. It consists of a three-step process:
- Learner commences study in the provider-based setting,
- Learner completes a work placement of 100 hours
- Learner continues study in the work-based learning setting
Programme overview
- Collaboration and communication in a multi-disciplined team to support registered health professionals to carry out delegated clinical tasks and to meet often complex client needs that support peoples’ independence.
- Advanced knowledge of conditions and complex needs of clients, and their family/whānau, in a health or wellbeing setting.
- Ability to develop practitioner relationships and responsibilities through observation and self-reflection.
- Applied knowledge of biculturalism, cultural diversity, service quality and ethical practices in the healthcare workplace including preparing and delivering reports and recording information as required by the organisation, and engaging in challenging conversations, in a health or wellbeing setting.
- Contribute to planned support strategies for people with complex needs and apply self-reflection to evaluate own service delivery.
- Leadership and advocacy skills in a health or wellbeing setting by formal or informal mentoring and/or coaching of colleagues.
This programme recognises the growing need for highly trained professional healthcare workers within Aotearoa New Zealand. Healthcare workers provide assistance, support and care to people in need (such as the aged or disabled) in a wide range of health, welfare, residential and community settings. This work fills a crucial role in society and is becoming even more critical as New Zealand’s population increasingly ages.
