This two-year programme of study focuses on the theory and practice of a range of computing systems and networks, and how these systems are used to support business practices. It aims to produce graduates with a sound technical understanding of information technology and the application of IT to business information systems. The course has an emphasis on developing skills in problem solving, interpersonal communication and addressing IT problems in a range of contexts.
The programme’s core is the fundamentals of information systems, hardware and software infrastructure, user applications and communication. In the second year students are able to specialise in networking or user support.
Pathway into a bachelors degree with our Diploma in Information Technology Level 6.
Academic Entry: A New Zealand NCEA Level 3 or higher or an equivalent qualification from overseas or suitable industry experience or satisfactory performance in the pre-enrolment knowledge test.
English Requirement: Students whose first language is not English must provide evidence of competency in English language equivalent to IELTS 6 (Academic) with no band less then 5.5 or NZSE’s Internal English Test (except for student’s from countries where the student visa decline rate is more than 20 percent of total student visa applications in that country)
The NZSE Diploma in Information Technology (Level 6) comprises of 270 credits spread between Levels 5 - 6 of the National Qualifications Framework. 135 credits are at Level 6.
Students can gain the qualification with successful completion of 240 credits.
Practical components are delivered and assessed internally, unless special provision is made for work-based assessment.
