Work-based learning
Living with dementia is tough and New Zealand’s dementia community desperately needs more and better support services. According to Ministry of Health statistics, approximately 70,000 New Zealanders have dementia, or Mate wareware, but that number is expected to increase exponentially to about 170,000 within the next 30 years. As demand in the Healthcare
sector for qualified staff with specialist training in this area continues to grow, there’s no better time to upskill with a course focused on Dementia Concepts and Support.

Through this course, you’ll be given the opportunity to develop communication skills and person-centred support knowledge, as well as strategies and skills required of dementia support workers in a healthcare environment.
