Academic Support
At NZSE we want all our students to succeed. This is why we offer wraparound academic support to ensure our students achieve their fullest. We offer resources and services to help out with any academic concerns you may have. You can also contact your tutor for additional assistance with your coursework as you progress along your study journey.
Learning Resources
NZSE encourages and promotes the development of flexible modes of teaching and learning, the use of new learning technologies and computer assisted learning management systems. Some features are:
Canvas
Canvas is a web-based learning management system. All Students will be given a detailed orientation to this system so that they can have 24/7 access to their learning resources and receive important notices and communications on this platform designed to make their academic and student journey a smooth and hassle free one.
Turnitin.com
Turnitin.com, is an online plagiarism-detection software that checks submitted documents against its database and the content of other websites. Based on your programme of study, you may be required to submit your assessments via Turnitin.com. Your tutors will provide more information on this. We take plagiarism and cheating seriously. You must not copy other people’s work and present it as your own. Your tutor will provide you with guidance to APA referencing.
Numeracy, Literacy and Language Support
Numeracy and literacy support is embedded in NZSE’s Level 1 to Level 4 programmes. Students enrolled at these levels of study will be required to complete a pre and post literacy and numeracy assessment. The results will be shared with students and guidance and support provided to improve numeracy and literacy skills. Students also have access to resources to assist in improving these skills.
English Language Support
Our programmes are largely taught and assessed in English. NZSE’s sister school, Seafield School of English, can provide support for anyone with English as a second language to prepare for study with us.
Academic Policies
Students are expected to perform to a satisfactory academic standard. NZSE has a number of academic policies and regulations that are relevant to students and intended to provide a benchmark for students’ academic achievement and a transparent and equitable process for students with academic performance problems. Please check with the Student Support Team if you need assistance.
