Programme overview
本课程旨在为母语为汉语的学生提供必备的技能和知识，使其成为幼儿教育部门和社区的合格幼儿教育老师。报读此课程的学生可以是即将从事家庭式幼儿教育行业、致力于支持华人儿童及家庭的人员，也可以是已经在幼教行业的从业者。本课程还将满足家庭式幼儿教育机构工作者学习幼儿教育和保育四级证书的需求。同时，它也为在幼教领域追求更高职业水平的学生提供了途径。
The aim of the programme is to provide Mandarin-speaking students with the pre-requisite skills and knowledge to become competent early childhood kaiako for the early childhood sector. Students may be entering the ECE industry with no previous experience; or already working within the sector. The programme will also meet the needs of home-based educators who will be required to complete a level 4 qualification. It also provides a pathway to higher level study in the early childhood sector.

Our programme covers best practices and theory to apply to your work, including:
- 教学主题 (Te Marau) ECE4001 (Curriculum)： 本学科涵盖幼儿教育课程 (Te Whariki) 的知识和技能。Covers the ECE curriculum, Te Whāriki.
- 专业知识 (Te Mātauranga) ECE4002 (Professional Knowledge): 本学科培养学生对于影响幼儿教育教师（Kaiako）实践的相关法规、立法、理论和道德要求的认识。 Learn about legislation, regulations and ethical aspects of ECE.
- 教学法 (Whakaako Mokopuna) ECE4003 (Pedagogy): 本学科发展学生在幼儿教育环境中的教学理论、哲学理念和包容性方法。 Review theories, philosophies and inclusive approaches in ECE.
- 实践 (Kia Whakahāngai) ECE4004 (Practice): 将理论应用到幼教的工作实践中，在家庭式幼儿教育机构或中心应用所学知识及技能。 Put theory to practice in real life ECE environment, whether in a centre or a home-based setting.
本课程最后一节课程包括64小时在幼教机构实习时间。幼教机构包括注册的家庭式幼教服务中心，私立或政府公立幼儿园，或者社区服务机构。
In the last course of the programme you will undertake 64 hours or work placement. Work placement can be undertaken in a licensed home-based service, an ECE Centre, a kindergarten, or a community centre.

Applicants must be aged a minimum of 17 years old at the start of the programme -
学术要求 (Academic Requirements)
本课程没有强制性学术要求，但申请者必须具备适当的读写算能力，有能力完成四级证书的水平。申请人需提供高中毕业文凭及其它学历、工作证明。注册幼教教师及讲汉语的成教教师会评估申请。如果申请者无法提供上述证明，NZSE的幼教教师需面试申请人以审核其有无能力学习该课程。
There are no general academic requirements for entry to the programme, however applicants enrolling are expected to show potential to study at Level 4 with adequate literacy and numeracy skills in Mandarin, and have Certificate of Completion of High School. Applicants will provide evidence of education and work experience to support their application. Applicants will be assessed by the course tutor who is a fully registered ECE teacher and an experienced adult educator and who is fluent in Mandarin. If applicants are unable to provide such evidence, then they may be requested to provide a letter of recommendation or attestation from someone (not family or friend) who can testify to their ability to study in the programme. -

- Information from two referees (not family or friends)
- An interview by NZSE College staff
- A short statement of intent: why the student wishes to pursue an ECE qualification
- Verification of identity
- Work history
- Information from any relevant professional organisation or registration body
- A police vet check including a criminal record check
- Risk assessment as required by the Children's Act which is based on the information supplied above and the outcome of the police check. -

Applicants enrolled to study via distance or using the online mode must have regular access to a reliable internet connection and a data usage plan that will allow them to sign in to the NZSE College Student Learning Management System, upload and download files including videos.
