STAR and Gateway Programmes
Our STAR and Gateway courses are aimed to meet the needs of New Zealand’s youth in an environment that is both challenging and rewarding.
With NZSE’s programmes in ATC (Active Training Core), Tech, Health, and Early Childhood Education, students gain pathway opportunities into top New Zealand Universities, work placement, and employment – setting you up for success.
Skill up through STAR and Gateway
A Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource (STAR) gives secondary school students an opportunity to skill up for the future with specific career or study at tertiary level. Students participate in short-term courses or ‘taster courses’ for a few days at a time, or one day per week for several weeks; or long-term courses leading into Gateway.
Gateway courses are long term programmes which lead to industry unit standard qualifications. Gateway courses are tailored for secondary school students and are structured around work-based learning, allowing them to learn and work while still at school and experience what they will do in the workplace.
