Graduands shine at NZSE College’s 2024 Graduation Ceremony

Date

20/09/2024

Venue

The Civic Theatre, Auckland

NZSE College’s 2024 Graduation Ceremony celebrated the incredible achievements of our hardworking graduands who completed their certificates and diplomas. With hundreds of graduands and their whānau in attendance, it was a remarkable day of joy and whanaungatanga.

Auckland’s Civic Theatre was alive with energy on Friday, 20 September, and the twinkling starry night ceiling served as the perfect reminder to our graduands: keep reaching for the stars as you embark on your next journey.

Graduands were honoured by Founder and Chair Brijesh Sethi who delivered an inspiring message to the beaming audience in the opening speech: “Our students leave with a sense of purpose, a readiness to contribute to the world, and the tools to make a real difference. You’ll forever be a part of the NZSE College whānau, and as you go forward, we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.”

Group CEO Wendy Liao, NZSE’s academic leaders, keynote speaker Isaac Morunga, and student speakers Alexis Michael and Laviana Hala also delivered heartfelt words about our learners and their time at NZSE.

“He rau ringa e oti ai – many hands make light work. This proverb embodies the essence of community service, where the efforts of many can bring about positive change. This principle unifies every graduate here today,” said Isaac Morunga, Excellence Manager at Microsoft, and proud graduate of NZSE.

The celebration was further elevated by a powerful waiata and haka from Te Kāhui Ākonga Māori. Made up of 27 Te Ara and ATC Military Prep students, the group came together with only three prep sessions ahead of the graduation. The audience during the ceremony were captivated by the dynamic and powerful kapahaka set, which had three sections: the waiata Te Iwi E, which is popular for its infectious, joyous energy; then the ATC Haka, which references Tūmatauenga, the primary god (atua) of war; and then the finale of Nei Ra Te Kaupapa, a waiata that talks about the preservation of te reo Māori – singing that te reo needs to be spoken to prevent it from going extinct like the Moa.

As our graduates now step into their careers as software developers, early childhood educators, aged care nurses, NZDF recruits, and more, we couldn’t be prouder. Here’s to your incredible achievements and the bright future ahead!
