Looking to upskill in cybersecurity and open doors in your career? Delve into a range of topics from securing hardware and software to making security and privacy more usable. Receive an introduction to concepts that extend from software development to database design and information systems.
During this 10-week micro credential course – the ultimate tech taster – you’ll be introduced to a wide range of opportunities that await you. Each week you will attend 6 hours of facilitated online sessions with a cybersecurity specialist tutor. You will be exposed to many practical activities so you can practice your new skills.
Use these skills to complete industry certification, or to progress into further studies. We have multiple micro credential courses available, or you could embark on a full programme of study at NZSE.
What you study
You’ll gain essential knowledge along with must-have skills in areas including computer hardware, operating systems, applications, and networks; plus you’ll build a basic app and a website. The following subjects will be covered:

Entry requirements
- A minimum of one year’s work experience with computer network technology, information security or related OR
- Certificate in ICT (Level 4) or higher
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, network equipment, operating systems installation and maintenance.
- This programme requires students to have access to a laptop/desktop that can connect to the internet with a web browser and a required minimum screen size of 10 inches. For device specifications, please talk to your Course Advisor.
- Must be older than 18 years of age
- IELTS level 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 that has been gained within the last two years
