New Zealand School of Education is now trading under the name New Zealand Skills and Education College.
The name change comes after a reflective look at how in 2020 NZSE rapidly addressed the needs of its student body with new technology during the lockdowns (in many instances proving hardware) and taught skills built around using the new digital tools available.
Embracing cloud technologies and new digital communications platforms enabled tutors, academic staff, admin staff and student support services to be better connected resulting in students being fully able to engage with their learning while at home in lockdown and get the support they required when needed.
Post-lockdown the learning continues with students empowered to take part in NZSE Management meeting via Teams or Zoom, completing online surveys and featuring in video clips discussing the transition to online and blended learning.
NZSEG CEO Wendy Liao the change comes at the right time – “NZSE staff embraced new technologies and quickly stepped-up to support our learners. The change of name, we feel, better reflects how we’ve changed, the new skills learned by staff and students alike and, how we’re committed to keeping our students safe and at the heart of everything we do”.
