Are you interested in working as a Pharmacy Technician? Support your community in pharmacy-related services, upskill and light up your future in healthcare through NZSE’s New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician – Core) (Level 4 ).
Through this 24-week programme, develop the vital skillset, confidence, ethical knowledge, and critical thinking to apply yourself in the New Zealand pharmacy sector under the supervision of a pharmacist. Learn from our team of caring, healthcare experts while training in our purpose-built pharmacy dispensary lab. During work placements, real-world experience will enable you to start your pharmaceutical career as a confident, enthusiastic and employable professional.

What you study
This programme combines relevant theory with practical learning to ensure you get both the skillset and knowledge you need to start your pharmacy career. During your studies, you will learn:
- Pharmacy ethics, regulations and legislation
- Interpreting prescriptions
- Pharmacotherapy/drug therapy
- Patient counselling
- Lab practice
You will also complete 160 hours of work placement at the end of the programme in a local pharmacy environment.

Entry requirements
- The New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice) (Level 3); or an equivalent qualification, skills or experience in the health and wellbeing sectors, is required to be held for entry into programmes leading to this qualification.
- Applicants must be a minimum age of 17 years old.
- This programme is taught and assessed in English, and the students must have English language competence to undertake it.
- This programme requires students to have access to a laptop/desktop that can connect to the internet with a web browser and a required minimum screen size of 10 inches. For device specifications, please talk to your Course Advisor.
- This programme is not available for international students.
