The NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2) Pathway to Warehouse Distribution is an 18-week practical programme designed to prepare you for employment or further study in warehousing, distribution, and logistics. Through hands-on learning, real workplace scenarios, and industry site visits, you’ll gain valuable skills and practical knowledge in warehouse operations, stock control, picking and packing, logistics, and supply chain processes. This programme prepares learners for their first role in the industry, providing relevant workplace experience and a strong foundation of knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand’s warehouse and distribution sector.
This course helps learners understand the importance of holistic wellbeing and how physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health contribute to personal success. By building awareness of their own strengths and wellbeing needs, learners will develop the confidence, balance, and personal skills needed to work effectively with others, manage challenges, and succeed in future study or employment.
Learners will develop practical skills in preparing for employment, including understanding their personal strengths, setting achievable goals, and planning the steps needed to succeed. These skills provide a strong foundation for future pathways in warehousing, distribution, logistics, and other industries by building readiness for the next stage of their journey.
CFS2003 – Project in Creative Technologies
This course introduces learners to website planning, design, and development by completing mini-projects based on real warehouse distribution and logistics scenarios. Learners will strengthen their ability to follow processes, manage information, solve practical problems, and apply attention to detail — skills that are increasingly important in technology-enabled warehouse, distribution, and logistics environments.
CFS2004 – Digital Skills for Online Learning
In this course, learners will identify their strengths, explore future career pathways, and develop digital skills that are valuable in today’s changing industries. Learners will be presented with simple authentic workplace scenarios and explore how technology is used to communicate, promote ideas, share information, and connect with audiences while developing safe and responsible online practices. These foundational skills will support success in modern warehouse and distribution environments where digital tools and technology play an increasing role in everyday operations.
This programme is only available for domestic students.
- Open to students who are 16 - 24 years of age, under Youth Guarantee.
- Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake the Programme which is taught and assessed in English.
- Graduates of this programme will be proficient in:
- Problem solving around delivery delays, damaged goods scenarios, stock shortages, customer complaints
- Working in diverse teams, and developing and testing websites using software development knowledge
- Utilising technology in logistics such as inventory software, handheld scanners, spreadsheets, and warehouse management systems
- Following health and safety guidelines
- Performing stock control exercises such as inventory counts, stock rotations, and locating stock using warehouse maps
- Receiving and dispatching processes
Students interested in further study can pathway into NZSE’s NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 3) General Pathway. This Level 3 programme builds further confidence in academic skills and can lead to higher study. Students can also move in entry level roles within logistics, warehousing and related areas.
