ATC Military Prep and volunteers remove 300kgs of rubbish from Manukau streets

ATC Military Prep clean up
Serving the community is a core value of ATC Military Prep, which is why our learners were proud to recently participate in the Manukau Business Association’s annual rubbish cleanup.

After two March cleanup dates were cancelled due to poor weather, a sunny Friday in May provided the perfect opportunity for volunteers to come together and help keep Manukau clean by collecting and responsibly disposing of litter found on local streets.

A strong volunteer effort saw ATC Military Prep learners join organisations including Te Kaha O Te Rangatahi, the Salvation Army, Harvey Norman, Alignz Recruitment, and Escape Masters to help make Manukau sparkle. Together, the group collected an impressive 300 kilograms of rubbish, which was passed on to Pink Bins Recycling Company for sorting and processing at the Manukau Recycling Centre.

For many ATC Military Prep learners, who aspire to serve Aotearoa in the Police, New Zealand Defence Force, Corrections, and wider security industries, community initiatives like this provide an opportunity to experience that sense of purpose and reward that comes from giving back to their community.

Manukau Business Association, also known as Manukau: Heart of the South, is a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports more than 1,700 businesses across the Manukau region. The association plays an important role in helping to position Manukau as a thriving social and business hub.

With NZSE College delivering ATC Military Prep programmes at our Manukau campus, we greatly value the opportunity to support initiatives that strengthen and uplift the local community.
